Checking is the preferred play here. While we have middle pair, betting often folds out hands we dominate while getting called by better Jacks or draws that have significant equity against us. **Ranges:** We have a slight nut advantage with sets (JJ, 99, 66), but our range is wide. BB's range is condensed with many Jx and 9x combos like QJ or A9 that make our T9o a vulnerable value hand. **Position:** Being out of position makes it harder to realize equity. By checking, we keep the pot small and allow Villain to bluff with their air, such as Ace-high or gutshots like 85s, which we comfortably beat. **Plan:** We are looking to check-call most reasonable bets. Our hand is too strong to fold but not robust enough to bet for three streets of value, making it a classic mid-strength bluff-catcher. --- > **Takeaway:** When you flop middle pair OOP in a single-raised pot, lean toward checking to control the pot and protect your checking range.
