Checking back is a significant miss. We have a massive equity draw and the 2c is a blank that doesn't help the HJ's condensed range of pocket pairs.
Note: Checking back loses the opportunity to fold out Villain's middle pairs (88-TT) and realize our fold equity with a high-equity semi-bluff.
Once we check back the turn and improve to top pair, checking back the river is standard. We have showdown value but won't get called by much worse.
