Avoid over-bluffing with air when the board pairs and the SPR is shallow; checking preserves our range and prevents getting blown off our equity.
Checking is the preferred play here. While we have the range advantage, our specific hand has very little equity and functions better as a check to realize its six-out potential on later streets.
Note: C-betting with pure air on a dry King-high board is unnecessary; checking allows us to see a free turn and keeps the pot manageable.
The 5h is a better card for us than the Villain, but our hand is still just high card. Betting large here is a significant overplay that turns our hand into a high-variance bluff.
Note: Sizing up to 75% pot with no draw and only Queen-high is too aggressive; it forces Villain to play perfectly by folding air and continuing with Kx or better.
Once we are raised, the decision is clear. We are beat by almost everything Villain raises for value, and we don't have the equity to justify a call even with excellent pot odds.
