Raising is a high-variance semi-bluff that targets UTG's overcards. While folding is technically the higher EV play, the small 1.1BB bet allows us to put their entire range under immense pressure. **Ranges:** This board hits our BB defending range much harder than UTG's linear opening range. We have all the straights (59, 9T, 45) and sets (88, 77, 66) that UTG often lacks or only has at low frequencies. **Board:** The 6-7-8 texture is extremely dynamic. Since we block some of UTG's continuing range with our Queen and have a gutshot to the nuts, we can occasionally use this hand as a check-raise bluff to balance our value. **Math:** We are getting 5.1:1 on a call, needing only ~16% equity. While we have the equity to call, raising to 3.8BB forces folds from hands like AJ/AQ that currently have us crushed. --- > **Takeaway:** On low, connected boards that favor the big blind, use your best draws and occasional weak gutshots to check-raise and punish small continuation bets.
