Folding is the correct play. While we have second pair, the monotone texture and the Ace-high board make our hand extremely difficult to play across future streets. **Ranges:** UTG has a massive advantage here with many flushes (KsQs, Ts9s), sets (66, 55), and strong top pairs (AdQs) that we are drawing nearly dead against. Our range consists of many weak pairs and high-card hands that struggle to continue versus aggression. **Board:** The monotone spade texture is highly polarizing; since we do not hold a spade, we cannot comfortably call and hope to realize equity on turns or rivers that complete the flush or pair the board. **Math:** We need roughly 30% equity to call, and while we have 37% against their total range, our actual realization will be much lower. We will be forced to fold on many turn cards, making the immediate fold higher EV. --- > **Takeaway:** When you hold a pair without a flush draw on a monotone board, you should generally fold to significant pressure as your equity realization is poor.
