Checking is the preferred play with middle set. While we have a monster, we block the primary hands that would call a bet (AQ, Q9), making a check more effective for inducing bluffs or letting Villain catch up to a second-best hand. **Blockers:** We hold two Queens, which heavily blocks SB's continuing range like AQ, QJs, and KQ. By checking, we allow Villain to keep betting with their air or semi-bluffs like KsJx or KsTx. **Ranges:** In a 4-bet pot with a low SPR, our range is very condensed. Checking back middle set protects our checking range, ensuring we aren't only checking 'air' when we skip a C-bet. **Plan:** On most turns, we are looking to get the money in. If Villain checks again, we can bet small to target Ax; if they lead, we have an easy call or raise depending on the card. --- > **Takeaway:** When you heavily block the calling range on a dryish board in a low SPR pot, checking back a monster can be the highest EV play to protect your range.
Note: Betting isn't a disaster, but checking is the pure strategy here to trap and protect your range since you block so much of the calling range.
