When BB check-raises, we have a pure call. Raising now would only fold out their bluffs and isolate us against the few hands that beat us, like 65s. **Ranges:** BB's check-raise is polarized between strong value (65s, 77, 44) and bluffs (98s, T9s, or overcards with backdoor equity). By calling, we keep their entire bluff range wide. **Math:** We have over 90% equity against their range. With an SPR of ~1.2, we are effectively committed to the pot, but calling allows BB to continue their aggression on the turn. --- > **Takeaway:** When you flop the near-nuts in a 3-bet pot, calling a raise in position often maximizes EV by allowing Villain to keep bluffing.
After BB checks the turn, we must bet to protect against draws and extract value from hands like AA, KK, or AQ that might have check-raised the flop. **Board:** The Qd is relatively safe, though it introduces a diamond draw. It also hits some of BB's overcard bluffs that might now feel compelled to check-call. **Sizing:** A small bet of ~33% pot is effective here because the SPR is so low. It sets up a trivial river shove while preventing Villain from checking back and realizing equity for free with their draws. **Plan:** On most rivers, we are looking to get the rest of the stacks in.
