Flop Analysis
Checking is a perfectly viable strategy here. While we have a range advantage, our specific hand lacks any real draw or showdown value, making it a fine candidate to check back and realize equity for free.
While checking the flop is fine, we must fold the turn when the flush completes and use our hand as a bluff on the river when Villain shows weakness.

Calling the turn bet is a significant error. Once the third spade hits and Villain leads, our J-high with no spade is at the bottom of our range and has almost zero equity against a range that now contains completed flushes.
Note: Calling with J-high on a flush-completing turn is a massive over-defend; we have no draw and are drawing dead to Villain's flushes.
After Villain checks the river, we should turn our hand into a bluff. The 4s puts a four-flush on the board, and since we don't have a spade, we are at the absolute bottom of our range and must bet to win the pot. **Ranges:** Villain's check on the river often caps them at one-pair hands or weak flushes. By overbetting or betting large, we put maximum pressure on their non-spade hands like 7x or Qx. **Blockers:** We don't hold a spade, which is actually good for bluffing here because it means there are more spades left in Villain's 'folding' range (like small spades that might fold to a large bet) or that they are simply capped. **Sizing:** A large sizing (pot or overbet) is preferred to maximize fold equity against Villain's condensed range. We want to represent the Ace of spades or a high flush that Villain cannot beat. --- > **Takeaway:** When you reach the river with the bottom of your range on a four-flush board, you must bluff to capitalize on Villain's capped range.
Note: Checking back the river is a missed opportunity; J-high has zero showdown value and should be used as a bluff to fold out Villain's weak pairs.
