Flop Analysis
Checking is preferred to protect our range on a paired board that hits the SB's flatting range (JJ-88, ATs, KTs). Betting small is a viable mix to deny equity to random air.
Don't turn a marginal draw into a massive bluff on a paired, flush-completing board where Villain's range is heavily weighted toward value.

Clicking back against the check-raise is a significant error. We have a gutshot and backdoor hearts, but we are behind all pairs and drawing thin against trips. **Ranges:** SB's check-raise on this texture is extremely polarized, representing Tx, strong Kx, or spade draws. By raising, we fold out the bluffs we beat and isolate ourselves against a range that has us crushed. **Math:** We need ~33% equity to call, and we have ~40% against a wide range. Calling allows us to realize our equity IP without bloating the pot with a hand that cannot stand a shove. --- > **Takeaway:** When facing a raise on a paired board with a marginal draw, call to realize equity rather than raising and folding out Villain's bluffs.
Note: Raising here is overplaying a weak draw; calling is much higher EV as it keeps Villain's bluffs in and allows us to realize our equity in position.
The turn is a disaster. The flush completes, and SB leads for nearly the full pot. We must fold our high card and gutshot. **Board:** The 7s is one of the worst cards in the deck. It completes the spade flush and changes nothing for our AhQh, which now has almost zero equity against SB's value range. **Blockers:** We do not hold a spade. This means SB can easily have flushes (AsXs, QsJs) or Tx hands that are never folding to our shove. We are essentially bluffing into an uncapped, value-heavy range. --- > **Takeaway:** Do not bluff-shove into a range that has just improved on a flush-completing card, especially when you hold no relevant blockers to the nuts.
Note: Shoving here is a massive punt; we have 3% equity and Villain is almost never folding a range that leads for full pot on a flush-completing turn.
