While we correctly check-called the flop and turn, our river lead was too large, and we missed a massive overbet-shove opportunity versus the river raise.

Flop Analysis

Standard check on a King-high board that significantly favors the preflop raiser's range.

Flop Analysis

Folding is the preferred play here. While the price is excellent, our hand has zero draw potential and very poor equity realization out of position. **Ranges:** HJ has a massive range advantage on K-8-4, including all sets and top pairs. Our AJo is essentially the bottom of our continuing range and lacks the backdoor flush potential of hands like AsJs. **Math:** We are getting 4:1, needing 20% equity to call. While we have ~36% raw equity, we will struggle to realize it as we are forced to fold to most turn barrels when we don't improve. --- > **Takeaway:** Don't feel obligated to call every Ace-high just because the price is good; prioritize hands with backdoor draws or better equity realization.

Note: Calling with A-high and no draws is a losing play long-term due to poor equity realization OOP.

Turn Analysis

The Jack is a great card for us, giving us second pair. Checking is correct to keep HJ's bluffs in and control the pot size with a marginal hand.

River Analysis

After HJ checks back the turn, we should lead for value, but a smaller sizing is preferred to get called by worse pairs like 8x or 99-TT. **Sizing:** A 33% pot bet (2.5BB) is the primary choice. Our 5.6BB bet is quite large and risks folding out the very hands we want to target for value. **Ranges:** HJ's turn check-back caps their range, making it unlikely they hold a King or better. This allows us to lead thin value with our Jacks. --- > **Takeaway:** When the aggressor checks back a dynamic turn, use small 'probe' bets on the river to extract value from their marginal bluff-catchers.

Note: Sizing is too large; a smaller bet better targets the capped range of the opponent.

River Analysis

Facing a min-raise on this board, we have a massive opportunity to jam. Our hand is essentially the nuts given the action, and we block the few hands that beat us. **Ranges:** HJ's line (bet flop, check turn, min-raise river) is extremely polarized. Since no straights or flushes are possible, they are either bluffing or have a slow-played monster like 4x or 88. **Blockers:** Our Ah blocks HJ's potential heart-draw bluffs that missed, while our Jd makes it less likely they have KJ. Most importantly, we beat all their 'value' raises like Kx that they might play this way. **Plan:** Solver wants to shove here over 75% of the time. By just calling, we leave a massive amount of EV on the table against a range that is often over-valuing a King or bluffing. --- > **Takeaway:** On boards where the nuts are unlikely based on the line taken, don't be afraid to re-raise for value with strong two-pair holdings.

Note: Calling is too passive; this is a prime spot to re-raise/shove for value against a capped and polarized range.
