Flop Analysis
Checking is standard. We have second pair on a dry board, which functions perfectly as a check-call to keep UTG's bluffs in.
We successfully extracted value by check-raising trips on the turn and following through on a board-pairing river.
Checking is standard. We have second pair on a dry board, which functions perfectly as a check-call to keep UTG's bluffs in.
Easy call. We have ~53% equity against UTG's range and are getting nearly 4:1 odds to see a turn.
Checking is mandatory to protect our range and allow UTG to continue barreling with their air or semi-bluffs.
Raising is a strong option here to build the pot while we have a massive equity advantage with trips. **Ranges:** We have more 8x in our SB calling range than UTG has in an opening range. By raising, we target Qx, JJ-99, and diamond draws that won't always bet the river themselves. **Sizing:** The overbet raise (1.1x pot) maximizes pressure on Qx. It forces UTG into a difficult spot with their marginal value while setting up a comfortable river shove. --- > **Takeaway:** When the board pairs your middle pair and you are OOP, check-raising is the most effective way to capitalize on your range advantage.
While betting works, checking is the preferred GTO line to trap UTG's remaining bluffs or missed draws. **Board:** The 6h is an interesting card that gives us a full house, but it also improves any 6x UTG might have floated with. However, it mostly acts as a brick that doesn't change the nuts. **Ranges:** Our range is extremely value-heavy after the turn raise. By checking, we allow UTG to shove with hands like AdKd or AdJd that have zero showdown value but might try to push us off a split or a weak Qx. --- > **Takeaway:** On the river with a monster hand, checking can often yield more profit by inducing bluffs from a polarized opponent.
