Flop Analysis
Standard check with our entire range. On this dry, King-high texture, the preflop raiser maintains a significant range advantage.
Check-calling is superior to leading with top pair; don't turn a strong bluff-catcher into a fold by betting into a range that can easily raise you.

Calling is the only play. We have top pair on a dry board, and while HJ's large sizing is polarizing, we are far too high in our range to consider folding.
Leading here is a significant strategic error. The 5d is a dynamic card that completes several straights (78, 37, 23) which are more prevalent in our range, but KJo functions best as a check-call to keep Villain's bluffs in. **Ranges:** While we have more straights, HJ still has all the sets (66, 55, 44) and AK/KQ. By leading, we allow Villain to play perfectly—folding their air and raising their value/strong draws. **Position:** Being OOP, we need to protect our checking range. Leading with a hand as strong as top pair leaves our checks extremely vulnerable to aggression. --- > **Takeaway:** Avoid 'donk betting' marginal value hands on cards that change the board state; check-calling realizes equity more effectively.
Note: Leading (donk betting) is a mistake; KJo should check to allow Villain to continue bluffing or value betting worse.
Once we lead and get raised, we are in a miserable spot, but folding is too tight given the SPR and our raw equity. **Math:** We need ~35% equity to call. Against a range of sets, straights, and diamond draws (like AdXd), we have roughly 34% equity. It is a razor-thin decision, but solver leans toward calling to avoid being exploited. **Blockers:** We don't hold a diamond, which is actually good for calling as it leaves all of HJ's semi-bluffs (like NFDs) in their range. --- > **Takeaway:** When the SPR is near 1.0, top pair is rarely a fold, even when the action suggests you are beaten.
Note: Folding top pair with an SPR of 1.0 is overly tight; we must call to remain unexploitable against semi-bluffs.
