Flop Analysis
Checking our entire range is standard here as the Big Blind caller. We have a weak made hand that needs to reach showdown cheaply.
We correctly defended a bottom pair against small bets but should have folded when the turn bet forced us into a marginal mix.

Calling is the only play with bottom pair and an Ace kicker. We have enough equity against the Button's wide c-betting range, which includes many straight draws and air.
The 6c is a blank that doesn't change the board dynamic significantly. We continue checking to the aggressor.
This is a very close decision where folding is slightly preferred. While the price is excellent, our hand is at the bottom of our continuing range and struggles to realize equity on many rivers. **Ranges:** Button's range is polarized between strong top pairs+ and semi-bluffs like JT or J9. By calling, we are hoping they are barreling with high-card air or gutshots that we currently beat. **Math:** Getting 4:1 on a call, we only need ~20% equity. However, our EV is negative (-2.9) because we are so often outdrawn or forced to fold to a third barrel on the river. --- > **Takeaway:** When facing a second barrel with bottom pair, even at great odds, the lack of future playability often makes folding the higher EV play.
Note: Calling the turn is a marginal losing play; folding is preferred to avoid being put in a difficult spot on the river with a very weak hand.
Checking is the only option. The 4h is a relatively safe card, and while we have a pair, it only functions as a check-call or check-fold candidate depending on sizing. **Board:** The board is highly connected, but most straights (like 78 or 37) are unlikely to be in the Button's range after this specific action. No flushes are possible. **Plan:** Since Button checked back, we win the pot. If they had bet, we would be in a pure bluff-catching scenario where we would likely fold to any significant sizing given our low absolute hand strength. --- > **Takeaway:** On highly connected rivers where you hold a weak pair, check and hope to reach a cheap showdown.
