Flop Analysis
Calling the small c-bet is the most profitable play. We have enough backdoor equity and overcards to continue against a range that includes many air bluffs.
While checking down is safe, our hand is a perfect bluff candidate on the Ace river to fold out better high cards and small pairs.

Checking back is standard here. The 4d is a blank that doesn't improve us, and while we have a gutshot, taking the free card to realize equity is higher EV than turning our hand into a bluff immediately.
We should pull the trigger on a bluff here. The Ace is a massive card for our range and we hold the perfect blockers to do it. **Ranges:** After UTG+1 checks twice, their range is heavily condensed into marginal made hands like 99-QQ or weak Kx. We have all the Ax combos that flatted preflop, giving us a significant nut advantage on this specific card. **Blockers:** Our QhTh is excellent because it doesn't block the missed spade draws (like J9s or T9s) that Villain might have, but it does block some of the 'auto-call' hands Villain might try to bluff-catch with. **Sizing:** A medium sizing (around 66% pot) puts maximum pressure on pocket pairs and weak Kings. Since we have almost zero showdown value, checking back is essentially surrendering the pot. --- > **Takeaway:** When the river brings a scare card that favors your range and you have zero showdown value, use your blockers to fire a bluff.
Note: Checking back misses a high-EV bluffing opportunity on an Ace river that heavily favors our perceived range.
