Flop Analysis
Standard check to the preflop aggressor on an Ace-high board where we have a significant portion of our range checking.
Folding top pair on the river after Villain checks back the turn is a massive over-fold against a capped range.

Easy call. We have top pair and the CO is betting a small, range-driven sizing that we easily clear with our hand strength.
Checking is correct. The Queen is a neutral card that doesn't change the board dynamic enough to warrant a lead from the Small Blind.
While checking is fine, leading for value is actually preferred here after CO checks back the turn. **Ranges:** CO's turn check heavily caps their range; they almost never have sets, two-pair, or the nut straight (35) as those hands would barrel for value and protection on a wet turn. **Sizing:** A medium lead (around 55% pot) targets CO's Kx or Qx hands that might check back, while also charging their remaining Ax holdings. --- > **Takeaway:** When the preflop aggressor checks back a dynamic turn, they are often capped, allowing you to lead the river for thin value with top pair.
Folding is a significant mistake. We are getting excellent odds to catch bluffs from a range that is fundamentally capped by the turn check. **Ranges:** By checking the turn, CO has essentially told us they don't have a monster. They are unlikely to have a flush or a straight (TJ/35) as those would typically semi-bluff or value bet the turn. **Math:** We need roughly 31% equity to call. Our top pair beats all of CO's missed straight draws (like 65s or 53s) and any air they decided to turn into a polarized river bluff. **Blockers:** Not holding a heart is actually a benefit here. It leaves more heart-based bluffs in CO's range that missed the flush draw on the turn and are now firing a 'scare card' river. --- > **Takeaway:** Don't let scare cards on the river force a fold when your opponent's previous actions suggest they cannot have the top of their range.
Note: Folding top pair here is a massive over-fold; Villain's turn check makes it highly unlikely they have the flush or straight.
