We played the big pots correctly, but skipping the flop c‑bet with top set costs a lot of value and lets villain realize equity for free.
Flop Analysis
We want to pure small-bet here with our entire top-set region; checking gives up equity and misses a huge value opportunity against a condensed calling range.
**Ranges:** As the 3-bettor we hold almost all AA/KK/AK while CO has many medium pairs and broadways (99–QQ, KQ, AQ, suited connectors), so our strong value density is much higher.
**Board:** This dry, king-high texture is very stable and hard for CO to improve on; that favors frequent small bets from our range and even more so with a hand that is near the top of it.
**Sizing:** Around 1/3 pot (4.9–5BB) lets worse Kx, pocket pairs and floats continue widely while still denying the cheap realization of random overcards and backdoor draws.
---
> **Takeaway:** On dry, high-card boards where we have the range advantage, top set should almost always fire a small c‑bet instead of slowplaying.
Note: Checking with top set on a dry king-high board where we have clear range advantage skips a pure small c‑bet spot and costs significant value.
Turn Analysis
After checking back flop, betting turn with our full house is correct, but the tiny sizing leaves value on the table versus a range that now contains plenty of bluff-catchers and some 7x.
**Ranges:** CO’s flop check keeps in a wide range: 7x, Kx, underpairs (88–QQ), some ace-high floats and slowplays, many of which will call at least one normal-sized turn bet on this paired card.
**Sizing:** Solver prefers about 1/3 pot with this combo (4.9–5BB); betting only 3BB under-charges their Kx/underpairs and gives excellent price to any backdoor spades or random floats.
**Plan:** Once we take the delayed turn stab line, the plan with this strength is to bet for value now and then be prepared to call off versus most reasonable raises, as we’re already near pot-committed in practice.
---
> **Takeaway:** When we delay c‑bet and then improve to a monster on a paired turn, we should still use a proper value size, not a token block bet.
Note: Betting is good, but using 20% pot instead of the preferred ~33% misses value against worse made hands that would comfortably call larger.
Turn Analysis
Calling the turn check-raise with our full house is mandatory; at this SPR we are heavily committed and far ahead of CO’s overall raising range.
River Analysis
Facing the river shove with quads we should always continue — our hand is effectively at the top of our range even though the board also allows full houses and flushes for villain.
