The hand is mainly hurt by the flop donk and skipped turn bet; river call vs the raise is fine but we shouldn’t be value-betting this hand there.
Flop Analysis
Top pair on this low, connected board should mostly check multiway; leading out builds a pot with a marginal hand in the range-disadvantaged seat.
**Ranges:** UTG has all the overpairs, strong 6x (A6s), and the best straights; our BB defend is wide with many weak pairs and draws, so we’re more capped and have fewer strong value combos. BU is in the pot pre, which further punishes loose stabs from us.
**Board:** Low, connected, rainbow texture creates many draws (5x, 2x5x, 57s) that interact better with UTG/BU than with our exact hand, and our top pair 6x is still very vulnerable to overcards and runouts.
**Sizing:** If we do mix in a lead, it should be the small ~⅓-pot size the solver uses; betting 4 into 10 slightly over-sizes and stresses a hand that mostly wants to pot-control and realize equity.
---
> **Takeaway:** Multiway and out of position on low, dynamic boards, let the preflop raiser bet—you don’t want to build pots with thin top pair.
Note: Donk-betting a marginal top pair into two players on a UTG-favored board is lower EV than mostly checking; the hand prefers pot control and letting UTG define the pot.
Turn Analysis
Once UTG calls our flop lead and BU folds, second pair plus a gutshot is a clear small turn value/protection bet; checking gives too many overcards and draws a free card.
**Ranges:** After UTG calls flop, their range is heavy on 77+, 6x, 5x, some 4x/3x and club draws. When the 7 arrives we now beat all their 4x/3x and many 6x, and we’re only behind 7x, better two pair, made straights and some slow-played overpairs.
**Board:** The 7c increases connectivity and introduces a club draw; that means more overcard+draw and 5x hands in UTG’s range that have decent equity against us but will often fold or pay versus a small bet.
**Sizing:** Solver prefers a ~⅓-pot stab very often here: it extracts thin value from worse pairs (4x, 3x, some 6x), charges 5x and club draws, and keeps the pot under control versus UTG’s stronger made hands.
---
> **Takeaway:** When turn cards add equity to your opponent’s range and you have a medium-strength hand plus a draw, lean into small value/protection bets rather than checking and giving free cards.
Note: Skipping the small turn bet with second pair + gutshot misses value from worse pairs and draws and allows UTG to realize equity for free.
River Analysis
On this river our two pair is a classic bluff-catcher; we should check and bluff-catch selectively, not block-bet into a range that has plenty of trips, straights, flushes and boats.
**Ranges:** UTG arrives here after calling flop and checking back turn with a condensed range of medium/strong value (overpairs, 7x, some slow-played monsters) plus missed draws; we, after leading flop and checking turn, still look capped relative to all their strong 3x and club holdings.
**Board:** The river 3c pairs the board and completes front-door clubs, so a large chunk of UTG’s continuing range improves to very strong hands, while our 6x improves only marginally to a weak two pair that still loses to trips, straights, flushes, and full houses.
**Plan:** Checking keeps our range stronger and allows UTG to bluff with misses; once we bet small, we rarely get called by worse and mostly isolate ourselves versus UTG’s strong value that can then raise us.
---
> **Takeaway:** When scary rivers favor the in-position caller’s range, check your marginal made hands and let them bluff or value-own themselves rather than thin-blocking into a stronger range.
Note: Betting this river with weak two pair turns a natural bluff-catcher into a thin, dominated value bet that rarely gets called by worse and opens the door to value-raises.
River Analysis
After we block-bet and get raised, calling with weak two pair is reasonable given the price; we’re high enough in our (overly wide) betting range and need to defend some hands.
**Ranges:** UTG’s raise is polarized toward trips+, straights, flushes and boats, but can include some bluffs like missed 5x without a club or random air that uses the scary card to attack our capped line and small bet.
**Math:** We’re getting about 1.8:1 on the call and need ~35.5% equity; with two pair we beat all bluffs and some overplayed worse two pairs, which satisfies that threshold in a balanced environment, even though population may be under-bluffing here.
**Plan:** From a strategic viewpoint the bigger leak is the river bet itself—if we check, our life is easier and we can call or fold based on bet size and tendencies instead of facing a raised block-bet.
---
> **Takeaway:** Once you’ve taken a weak block line and get raised for a fair price, folding every time is too tight—fix the river betting error, but this particular call is acceptable.
