Line is very solid postflop; the only really marginal part is defending the 3-bet out of position this deep with 66 versus that big sizing.

Flop Analysis

Flop 3c 5d 7c in a 3-bet pot is excellent for our actual hand and slightly favorable for our overall range: we have all pocket pairs down to 22 plus suited low connectors, while BU is more top-heavy. With 66 we have middle pair, a gutshot to 4, and a backdoor club draw. Being OOP and not the preflop aggressor, checking range is correct; we let BU stab their overcards and bluffs while keeping our medium-strength hands protected in our checking range. Leading would narrow our range awkwardly and deny BU the chance to misplay their air.

Flop Analysis

BU bets 17.5BB into 21.5BB (~81% pot). That’s a big c-bet, but the price is still 17.5 to win 39, so we need ~31% equity. With 66 on 3c 5d 7c we comfortably clear that: we’re ahead of unpaired overcards like AK/AQ, underpairs like 44, and we have extra equity from the gutshot and backdoor clubs. Range-wise, we still sit in the middle: not strong enough to raise for value (we’d hate getting jammed on by overpairs/sets), but too strong + too much equity to fold. So calling and keeping our range uncapped while realizing equity is exactly what this hand wants to do.

Turn Analysis

Turn 5c pairs the board and brings a third club, making the texture much more polar: BU now has trips/boats/overpairs/strong flush draws, but also plenty of overcard bluffs and semi-bluffs. Our 66 picks up a real combo draw now (pair + flush draw + gutshot), so our equity versus BU’s betting range actually improves in many cases despite the scary card. With an SPR around 1.3 and OOP, we should still check range: we don’t want a lead that gets jammed on by boats and better made hands while folding out the very bluffs we want to keep in.

Turn Analysis

Facing 31.2BB into 56.5BB, we are getting about 2.8:1 and need ~26% equity. With 66 on 3c 5d 7c 5c we have a made pair plus a strong draw: nine club outs that don’t pair the board further are often good, some 4s make a straight, and we still beat high-card bluffs like AdKd, AhQs, etc. The downside is that BU’s value region is very strong now (overpairs, 7x, 5x, boats), and when we improve it’s not always clean (a club can still be losing versus higher flushes, and full houses are possible). Still, against a balanced 3-bet c-bet double-barrel range, our equity versus the betting range plus the immediate pot odds justify continuing. Calling and keeping in bluffs/semi-bluffs is preferred; jamming would isolate ourselves against the polar, very strong part of BU’s range.

River Analysis

River Jh gives a final board of 3c 5d 7c 5c Jh. Flushes and full houses are possible in both ranges, but our actual hand has not improved—we still have just a pair of sixes with a busted draw and an SPR of ~0.35. Checking range from OOP is standard here: we’re in bluff-catcher mode with most of our non-boat, non-flush holdings and want to let BU decide whether to polarize or give up. When BU checks back, our line has done its job: we controlled pot size with a marginal pair in a 3-bet pot, realized our equity with a strong draw on the turn, and avoided turning a weak showdown hand into a bluff on a river that heavily favors BU’s value region when they do bet.
