Everything postflop is solid aside from an unnecessary flop raise with top pair in a spot where calling keeps our range stronger and prints versus a wide c‑bet.

Flop Analysis

Flop Kd 9c 2h, pot 20.5BB, BB c-bets 10BB and we have top pair top kicker with backdoor nut hearts. Board is dry and slightly better for BB’s 3-bet range (they have more overpairs and AK, we have more 9x and underpairs), but our exact hand is near the top of our range and smashes their c-bet range. Solver data shows AhKh is almost pure call here: we get excellent 3:1 pot odds, we’re way ahead of their bluffs and weaker Kx, and the board is static enough that we’re not desperate to ‘protect’. When we raise to 30BB, we polarize ourselves (looking like sets, AK, maybe K9s) and let BB play perfectly—continuing only with strong Kx/overpairs/sets and folding their air that would keep barreling into our easy bluff-catcher. Calling keeps our range wider, protects our calls, and forces BB to barrel into a range that still contains some traps.

Note: Raising flop with TPTK on a dry K9x board versus a standard 3-bet c-bet is unnecessary; calling gains more EV by keeping BB’s bluffs in and avoiding over-polarizing our range.

Turn Analysis

Turn 7s, pot 80.5BB, SPR ~0.75, BB checks after calling our flop raise. This card is basically a brick for our hand: we still have top pair top kicker, no flushes or straights are made, and ranges are now quite face up—BB is heavy on strong Kx, overpairs, and some slowplayed sets, plus a few give-ups. With this low SPR, the hand is effectively committed: any reasonable bet we make is going to pot-commit us. Solver mix shows AhKh betting about half the time for value/protection and checking the rest, with nearly identical EV. Betting jams our equity edge versus QQ–TT and worse Kx; checking controls variance and lets BB bluff river with the hands that gave up turn. Given we already took the aggressive line on the flop, checking back here is totally fine and keeps our range from being only bet-bet when strong.

River Analysis

River 4c, pot 80.5BB, BB shoves 60BB. Board Kd 9c 2h 7s 4c hasn’t completed any flush or straight, so the relative hand strengths from turn mostly hold. BB’s value range is now sets (99, 77, 44, sometimes 22), K9s, and occasionally slowplayed AA/KK; we block both AK and some AA/KK combos, which slightly reduces their nutted density. Bluffs are their missed hands like AQ, QJ, some T8s/65s-type holdings that didn’t improve. Our pot odds are about 2.3:1, needing ~30% equity, and with TPTK we sit at the very top of our bluff-catching region after checking turn—we’re ahead of all one-pair worse Kx and any spew. Solver data supports mostly calling with this exact combo. Shoving over is theoretically okay at tiny frequency but practically pointless here; calling is the clean, high-EV decision.
