Flop line is great and river overbet is strong, but preflop is too loose and turn should slow down once the board shifts to favor villain’s nutted range.

Flop Analysis

Flop 4♥ 3♦ 6♦ is fantastic for our actual hand but still structurally good for UTG+1’s range (overpairs, sets, strong diamonds, A5, 55). Out of position as the preflop caller, we should be checking range; there’s no incentive to donk into a strong, uncapped raiser. Checking keeps our range protected and lets villain stab with their whole c-betting range, including overcards and diamond draws that we crush.

Flop Analysis

Facing 3.1BB into 5BB on this board, check-raising is the right idea with such a strong value hand: we deny equity from overcards and diamond/straight draws and start building a pot vs overpairs, sets, and strong top pairs. The raise to 8.2BB is on the smaller side (a bit over 2.5x the bet), which is fine at this depth—it keeps UTG+1’s range wide and gets action from exactly what we target (e.g. overpairs, A♦x, K♦Q♦, 55/A5, etc.). Mixing in some flats is okay for range protection, but in practice this flop XR for value is very solid.

Turn Analysis

Turn 7♦ is a really bad card for our relative hand strength: it brings a third diamond and connects even more with UTG+1’s strong continuing range after calling a flop check-raise (many hands with a diamond, straights, and high pairs that picked up equity). Our hand shifts from being a pure value crush on the flop to more of a medium-strength, bluff-catching type hand versus a now-polar range. Solvers in these spots lean heavily to checking OOP: we let villain bet their bluffs and value, and we continue mostly by calling. Betting 11BB into 21.2BB is a small block/value stab, but it exposes us to getting raised by very strong hands while folding out the air we actually want to keep in.

Note: On the turn card that heavily improves villain’s range, we should mostly check and bluff-catch rather than lead into a now-strong, polarized range.

River Analysis

River 6♥ pairs the top card and massively shifts the nut distribution back toward us after we check-raise flop and bet turn: we’re extremely weighted to strong made hands and boats here, while UTG+1’s range is heavy on overpairs and flushes that now lose to our best holdings. With ~43BB in the pot and ~168BB behind, overbetting 70BB creates a very natural polar line—representing full houses and a few bluffs—and heavily taxes overpairs and flushes that will struggle to fold. This sizing is ambitious but coherent: at this SPR we don’t need to jam to apply pressure, and this overbet prints versus opponents who have trouble folding big but second-best hands.
