Completing pre and checking flop are fine, but the big turn stab with just K‑high on a scary card is too ambitious for this limp pot.
Flop Analysis
Flop 2d Th Jd in a limped pot, we’re OOP, not the aggressor, and BB’s range is extremely wide and uncapped. With K6o we essentially have K‑high with some draw potential on this fairly dynamic board. Checking range is correct here—our preflop limp doesn’t justify range betting, and we let BB stab with all their random air while we continue with our stronger holdings and proper draws. Checking K‑high is standard and keeps our range protected.
Turn Analysis
Turn Qs makes the board 2d Th Jd Qs, which is very favorable to strong one-pair and better holdings in BB’s wide range and generally bad for our capped limp range. After BB checks again, we fire 1.9BB into 2BB with K‑high and only draw equity. That sizing is essentially a pot-sized stab with a hand that has no showdown value and sits in the middle of our turn range, not at the bottom. Strategically, this spot plays better as a high-check/high-small-bet mix: we’d rather polarize with our strongest made hands and our lowest-equity bluffs, while checking a lot of medium-strength draws like this to avoid building a big pot OOP against an uncapped range.
Note: Pot-sized turn bluff with K‑high on a very scary card over-bluffs this node; we should mostly check or use a smaller, more range-based sizing with this type of draw.
River Analysis
River 4h bricks the 2d Th Jd Qs 4h runout after our big turn bet gets called. BB has shown strength by calling on a coordinated turn, and our K‑high has poor showdown value and doesn’t block many natural continues. After we take a large, polar line on the turn and get continued with, firing again here needs a very credible value range and good blockers to BB’s continues; K6o doesn’t offer that. Checking back and giving up, while unsatisfying, is the disciplined and correct finish to an over-ambitious turn line.
