We play the hand fine until the river, where we overvalue our full house on a board that massively favors UTG’s range.

Flop Analysis

Flop Kd 2s 6d, we have middle pair with 7 kicker on a semi‑wet board vs UTG. With SPR still >10, BB is checking range here—UTG has the nut advantage (AK, KQ, big pairs) and position. Leading would polarize ourselves unnecessarily and expose a weak, capped range; checking keeps our range protected and lets UTG c‑bet all their air and overcards.

Flop Analysis

Facing 2.1 into 5 (≈42% pot), we’re getting excellent odds (~23% needed) with a pair and decent equity vs UTG’s c‑bet range. Their betting range is heavy in big cards (AQ, AJ, QJ), overpairs (QQ–99), and Kx; our 6x is clearly ahead of their air and underpairs, and has decent playability on many turns. Calling is standard; raising would isolate us versus strong Kx and overpairs and fold out the hands we’re ahead of.

Turn Analysis

Turn Kd 2s 6d 6h gives us trips with 7 kicker and drops SPR to around 5. We should still be checking almost all of our range here; UTG retains the nut advantage with all strong Kx and full houses, and if we lead we expose ourselves to a raise in a spot where our range is perceived weak. UTG’s check back caps a lot of their strong Kx and overpairs and weights them toward showdown hands (AQ, JJ–99, some small pairs) and occasional slowplays, which is a good outcome for our range.

River Analysis

River Ks makes the board Kd 2s 6d 6h Ks. This is the key structural point: the board itself is already a full house (kings full of sixes), and our 6c upgrades us to sixes full of kings. That sounds strong but actually isn’t in this configuration—any hand that does not contain a 6 but gets to showdown (AQ, AJ, QJ, random broadways) now has kings full of sixes and beats us. We only beat small pocket pairs 22–55 and chop with other 6x that don’t have a K. With that in mind, checking our entire continuing range is correct; betting for value is very thin and would mostly isolate versus Kx and higher full houses.

River Analysis

Facing 7 into 16.2 (≈43% pot, needing ~30% equity), we have what feels like a monster but is functionally a bluff‑catcher near the bottom of our continuing range. UTG checked turn, then bets river on a runout where almost all of their broadway overcards improve to a better full house than ours. Their thin value region is huge: AQ/AJ/QJ, 77–QQ, and of course all Kx, plus slowplayed monsters; the only clear worse hands they can value bet are 22–55, which are a small part of a tight UTG range. That makes it very hard for us to reach the required 30% equity: their value region is wide and natural, and they don’t need many bluffs to justify this sizing. From a range standpoint, sixes full should often fold while we continue with our Kx and higher full houses.

Note: Calling the river overvalues our relative hand strength; on this double‑paired K‑high board, sixes full is crushed by a very wide value range and should mostly be folded versus a bet.
