We 3-bet JJ, flop top set, and take a solid bet-bet-jam line on a dynamic runout; sizing could be a bit more ambitious earlier, but overall the line is strong.
Flop Analysis
Flop Jd 7c 9d heads-up in a 3-bet pot with SPR ~3.5 is a dream—top set on a dynamic, equity-rich board that hits UTG+1’s suited connectors and medium pairs. Range-wise, SB can bet at high frequency for a small size, and JJ is pure value that wants to build a pot while still allowing dominated hands (QQ–TT, 99/77, Jx, T9s, 98s, diamond draws) to continue. Betting 7.8BB into 25BB (~31%) is on the conservative side: it’s +EV, but a larger size (50–70% pot) would extract more from overpairs/strong draws and help set up turn/river stacks more cleanly.
Note: Top set on a very draw-heavy board is strong enough to size up; the small c-bet leaves value on the table versus overpairs and draw-heavy continues.
Turn Analysis
Turn Th makes the board Jd 7c 9d Th, which is extremely connected: 8x now has a straight, and villain still has many combo-draws and two-pair/one-pair+draw holdings (QJ/KJ, TT/99/77, T9s, 98s, diamond draws, etc.). Our hand—top set—is no longer the absolute nuts but is still near the top of our value range and wants to keep charging this equity. Betting 25.3BB into 40.6BB (~62%) is right in line with a strong, polarized betting strategy: we extract from overpairs and strong Jx while punishing draws. With SPR just under 2, jamming turn would also be reasonable to deny maximum equity versus pair+draws and diamonds, but the chosen sizing keeps worse hands in without giving too good a price.
River Analysis
River 6s on Jd 7c 9d Th 6s keeps the board very straight-heavy—8x (like 88, 98s, T8s) is a straight, and some 5x+8x combos can get there too—while all diamond draws brick. After bet–call, bet–call, UTG+1’s range is weighted toward strong made hands (overpairs, sets like TT/99/77, strong Jx, JT/T9) plus some 8x straights; many of those non-straight hands are exactly what we’re targeting with a shove. With ~55BB into a 91.2BB pot (SPR ~0.6), jamming 54.9BB is standard: we’re polarized to very strong value and the occasional bluff, and top set is clearly high enough in that value range to stack off even though some straights exist.
