On paired turns with A-high and no draw, we should check and give up rather than leading big into a value-heavy range.
Flop Analysis
Flop comes T65 rainbow, giving BU a slight range advantage. With A-high and no real equity, checking is mandatory. When BU fires 1.9bb into 2.5bb, we’re getting about 2.3:1 and need roughly 30% equity; A-high has that versus a limp-c-bet range, so calling is standard.
Flop Analysis
Turn pairs the 6, pot is ~6.3bb and we have ~42bb behind. This card is very good for BU’s limp range (6x, sets, Tx) and not great for us. With A-high and no draw, leading ~95% pot into a range that’s now very value-heavy is a big mistake; checking and giving up is preferred.
Note: Leading ~95% pot on a paired turn with A-high and no draw into a value-heavy range is a big mistake; checking and giving up is preferred.
Turn Analysis
After we bet 6bb and BU raises to ~23.5bb, we’re getting about 1.5:1 and need ~40% equity; A-high has nowhere near that versus a range that’s now heavily weighted to 6x, Tx, and sets. Folding is correct.
