Defend pre, check flop and turn, and comfortably fold to the turn bet with QdTh on A A 2 K.

Flop Analysis

Flop comes A A 2 rainbow. This is a very strong card for the raiser and a poor one for our defend range, so checking our entire range is the standard approach. With QdTh we have no pair, no draw, and no real blockers to Ax, so checking and seeing what MP does is the only sensible line.

Turn Analysis

Turn Kh adds a second overcard and gives us a gutshot to the J. Our hand is still just high card, but we now have some equity and a few good river outs. Checking again is the right idea—betting would mostly get action from Ax and better hands, and we don’t want to build a big pot with a weak draw.

Turn Analysis

MP now bets 6.6BB into 12.3BB, giving us about 2.9:1 and needing roughly 26% equity. On A A 2 K, MP’s range is heavily weighted to Ax and strong Kx, and our QdTh has only a gutshot and no relevant blockers. Even though the price looks tempting, our equity and realization are poor enough that folding is the disciplined, higher-EV choice.
