With top two on the river in a 3-way pot, a big value bet is better than a shove—jamming risks our whole stack for a small extra value.

Flop Analysis

Flop AK2 rainbow is very favorable for CO’s raising range, so checking our whole range from the BB is the right idea. When CO fires 4bb into 10bb, we’re calling 4bb to win roughly 14.5bb, needing about 28% equity; AsJs has that easily with top pair and a strong kicker.

Turn Analysis

The 7s on the turn doesn’t change much for us—our hand is still top pair with a good kicker. After both HJ and we check, CO’s 6bb bet into 22bb is a small, low-pressure barrel. Calling keeps us in a multiway pot with a strong but non-nut hand, while raising would mostly get action from better and fold out worse.

River Analysis

River Jc gives us top two, but we’re still in a 3-way pot and CO has plenty of Ax/Kx. Jamming 26.5bb into 39.5bb is overkill; a value bet around 1/2–2/3 pot targets worse Ax and Kx while risking less. HJ’s call with Kx is a nice outcome, but CO’s fold means we often leave value on the table with this sizing.

Note: River shove is unnecessarily large; a value bet around 1/2–2/3 pot captures similar value from worse Ax/Kx while risking less.
